In my office I see self advocacy all the time. Without self advocacy, I don't think the office would be able to work at all. In my office, I am surrounded by attorneys. Some of the attorneys are seasoned veterans, but some are fairly new to the practice. The newer attorneys ask the veterans questions all the time, and it makes things easier to run the cases and keep things smooth. Even the veteran attorneys in the firm use self advocacy. They ask each other for advice and help all the time. I don't see a day go by where one attorney doesn't ask another one for help. It really shows the necessity of communication and self advocacy in the line of work.
As for me, I use self advocacy often to ask questions or get feedback on work. The first day that I went to court with a mentor I was faced with a lot of new things that confused me. I hope that I was not annoying to the mentor because I asked a lot of questions about what was happening and why. At this point I have been following the guidelines of how to be an intern that everybody remembers, but I can enhance my usage of these because I often times find myself without work to do, or I find myself doing work that doesn't necessarily challenge me.
